Superstar Astrophysicist hosts new Radio Show about Space
Los Angeles, CA: December 16 - StarTalk, the first and only popular commercial radio program devoted to all things SPACE and Science will be hosted by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. As Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, President of the Planetary Society, and People Magazine's "Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive", Tyson makes regular appearances as the "nation's expert on space" on major news programs and popular shows (Daily Show, Colbert Report). The show will air on LA's flagship talk radio station 97.1 Free FM KLSX at 12:00 PM PST (December 16). StarTalk will also be streamed live on the web at http://www.971freefm.com/ (click on splash page to listen).
Tyson's writings (such as The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist) and NOVA specials (Origins, and NOVA ScienceNOW) have already won him a faithful media following. His most recent book, Death by Black Hole and Other Cosmic Quandaries reached the New York Times Best Seller List. Tyson was recently awarded Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Persons in the World for 2007.
StarTalk will bridge the intersection between Pop Culture and Pop Science with clarity, humor and passion. Captivating subjects -- such as space travel, extra-terrestrial life, the Big Bang, the future of our Earth and the environment, and breaking news from the universe - will all be explored.
Hilarity ensues as Tyson is joined each week by co-host and comedienne Lynne Koplitz of Comedy Central fame. Chiming in with her irreverent and pointed humor she represents the everyman and brings science down to Earth.
The program also features special guests and celebrity interviews. When asked what specific topics will be explored, Tyson said: "Everything under the sun… Or rather under the universe!" He continued by saying his audience would be "All the people who never knew how much they'd love learning about space and science."
Whether you're a rocket scientist or a space cadet, listeners may call in with questions and voice opinions on anything from Global Warming to Worm Holes to Sex in Space. Or they can email Dr. Tyson their questions at startalkradio@mac.com.
Listen to StarTalk, where science and pop-culture collide. Get smart and get entertained as mysteries are investigated, myths are exposed and truths are revealed!
